Background
Eric Koehler brings over 28 years of experience in production cabinetry and carpentry
to Koehler Woodworks. During that time he has worked independently as a finish carpenter
and cabinetmaker in addition to performing production planning and prototyping for a number
of Maine furniture and fixture manufacturers. Eric initially established Koehler Woodworks
in 1983 as a part time business, supplementing his work for mid-coast Maine homebuilders.
By 1985 Koehler Woodworks had become a full time operation, with projects ranging from
furniture, cabinetry, and millwork to complete homes. In 1995 Eric took a sabbatical
from his own business to help establish a commercial furniture manufacturing business,
where he built prototypes and helped develop production planning.
In 1997 he returned to Koehler Woodworks full time to integrate his production experience
with the challenges of high quality custom architectural woodwork, including libraries,
kitchens, built-in and stand alone furniture. In 2003 Koehler Woodworks moved to its newly
constructed facility in Brunswick, ME.
Eric focused on Architectural Studies at the University
of Maine at Augusta, and that background contributes
to the unusually high degree of planning and detail
reflected in his drawings and work plans. He has a
reputation of working collaboratively with individual
clients and contractors to develop the best solutions
to space, design, and construction issues. Koehler
Woodworks is a member of the Maine
Wood Products Association.
